Symposium in memory of Stavros Katsanevas

From 8:00
to 20:00
Université Paris Cité, Amphithéatre Buffon 15 Rue Hélène Brion 75013 Paris

This conference, which will take place on 1 June 2023 at the Buffon amphitheatre of the Université Paris Cité, is organised in memory of Stavros Katsanevas, who sadly passed away on 27 November 2022. The APC laboratory, which he helped found and which he directed between 2014 and 2017, wishes to pay tribute to him through this symposium.

Stavros Katsanevas was a prominent member of IN2P3, of which he was largely involved in outreach, and of which he was Deputy Scientific Director between 2002 and 2012 in the fields of cosmology, neutrino physics and astroparticles. Since 2018, he has led the Franco-Italian EGO consortium, which coordinates the European structure for the detection of gravitational waves, Virgo.  Endowed with a great open-mindedness, he has built bridges between disciplines such as between the Earth sciences and the sciences of the Universe, or between art and science.

For those who cannot come to the event but would like to share a few words of tribute, it will be possible to send a video clip that will be broadcast during the conference. More information on the symposium's indico page.
